The alleged killing of Nigerian youths by SARS becoming global embarrassment- Yannick Jean
European based Nigerian entertainer, Yannick Jean describes the recent rise in cases of killings and arbitrary arrest of youths within Nigeria by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigerian police as a global embarrassment that is exposing Nigerians outside the country to public ridicule.
Yannick Jean made the comment to newsmen while reacting to the alleged shooting to death of a young man at close range in Port Harcourt for failing to unlock his cell phone at the request of the policemen.
" News of the killing of youths by police in Nigeria is becoming a global embarrassment that is portraying Nigeria's image in bad light outside the country.
The Security personnel should know that the world is a global village and any wrongdoing will be seen across the world within a short period of time" says Yannick Jean.
Jean, a hip-hop artist, and educationist based in Europe are one of the privileged Nigerians who is saddened by the wanton killings by the Police Unit.
Issue of SARS killing takeover the social space again last week after a lady was allegedly raped to death in SARS custody while a young man was shot to death in Rivers State.
SARS has become a menace that Nigerians especially the youths are scared of moving around freely because of their Modus Operandi and abuse of public trust in the discharge of their duty.
Recently, President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government signed the Police Force reform bill into law but that is not stopping Nigerians from calling on the scraping of SARS in the country.
